Which side of a steel door should the glazing bead be installed on?
If the door swings out into a hallway, the snap-in or screw-in glazing bead should be installed on the narrow side of the door. If the door swings into a room, the glazing bead should be installed on the wide side of the door. These options can be communicated through the door swing designations LH, RH, LHR, or RHR.
Glazing bead is used to hold glass or glazed panels in place in doors, screens, sidelite assemblies, borrowed lites, and transom units. In all cases, it is important to indicate the secure side where the glazing bead is to be installed.
For doors, you may use either screw-in or snap-in glazing bead. For all other units require screw-in glazing bead.
